Topics covered include wine regions, cool and warm climate wine characteristics, tasting methodology to help you dissect the structural components of wine – sugar, acid, tannin, alcohol, body – and how to find and use simple, precise language to describe what you are smelling, tasting, and feeling from the wine in the glass.

Come celebrate this holiday season with a night of Christmas jazz. You will be taken on a nostalgic journey through different eras of Christmas and holiday music arranged for the artistic jazz instrumentation of voice, piano, double bass, and saxophone. The ensemble's personnel have spent much of their music careers in cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Denver and have all been recognized in the field of jazz performance and jazz composition. Currently, they are all based out of different areas of Idaho including Moscow, Twin Falls, and Boise where they share their passion for the music while teaching at the University of Idaho, Boise State University, and the College of Southern Idaho.

It’s that time of year again—our Annual Pie Showdown! Whether you’re team sweet or savory (or you dabble in both), we want to see what you’ve got!

This year, we’ve heard your feedback, and guess what? Everyone’s a judge! No sign-ups, no pressure, just bring your pie and your appetite! All you have to do is show up, dig in, and cast your vote. The person crowned as the Pie Champion will take home not only bragging rights but also a bottle of wine, because wine makes every victory sweeter.

The band features musicians from around the mountain west including Derek Ganong (trumpet), Ben Britton (tenor saxophone/flute), Alex Sjobeck (piano), Abraham Masso III (bass), Derek Munson (drum set), and Dave Gluck (auxiliary percussion). Jam nights are free and open to the public, all you need to do is bring your own instrument and/or voice!

Jazz pianist Alex Sjobeck and jazz adjacent vocal powerhouse Sam Tru have extensive experience performing together and playing at some of the world’s top jazz clubs and performance halls. Alex Sjobeck is also an award winning jazz composer who brings fresh, innovative works to the classic instrumentation of a jazz duo. Sam Tru is known for her original works as well which landed her in Downbeat magazine after the release of her album Cycle which made it to #1 on Amazon’s Top 100 New Releases. Alex Sjobeck began her career in New York City while Sam Tru began hers on the west coast creating a unique variety of influence in the music they produce together.

Join us on October 13th at Coiled for our Annual Soup Competition! Simply bring a pot (or crockpot) of your favorite homemade soup to share, and we’ll take care of the bowls and spoons.

Everyone gets to taste and vote, and the soup with the most votes will earn the title of Soup Queen or King—plus a bottle of Coiled Wine! Whether you’re a seasoned cook or just love making soup, we’d love to have you join in the fun.

The Angry Easel is back here at Coiled! Join us for an afternoon of painting and mimosas, which will be perfect for the beginning of the spooky season!

Join us for an afternoon with Lindsay Rae Art! Create, sip, and be merry. Join in on a 2 hour workshop and learn how to make a framed floral artwork. Each ticket includes an 8x10” recycled frame, pressed flowers, choice of white or black background, and other supplies needed to create your very own masterpiece. This class offers an opportunity to learn about flowers while diving into your own creativity. Your first glass of wine is included in the ticket price, additional drinks may be purchases at the bar.
